Jim Young, a founding advisor when we opened the doors to Resolute in 2017, brings over 37 years of experience in the securities industry. While not a native of Colorado, he has spent the last 30+ years in our beautiful state. Prior to joining the team at Resolute, he previously worked with Merrill Lynch and UBS Financial Services, serving a diverse range of individual and institutional clients.

Jim has always preferred fixed income securities strategies, with a focus particularly on municipal bonds. That said, as markets have shifted and times have changed, he has adapted his investment strategies over the years to incorporate new ideas while consistently maintaining a risk-averse approach for his clients. Although it’s been a few decades now, Jim was an early adopter and is still an ardent supporter of Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs), even serving as the keynote speaker at the ETF Conference in 2001.

Jim's flexible and active, yet risk-averse management style has helped clients navigate market volatility and preserve capital, even during some of the most extreme downturns in the past few decades.

Outside of work, Jim and his wife, Monica have been happily married for over 50 years. They have two grown daughters, Wendy and Cheryl, and three grandchildren, Elliott, Ashley and Stephanie. Jim and Monica enjoy hiking, snowshoeing, traveling, and organic gardening. They are also devoted supporters of the Colorado Trail Foundation, Barr Camp, the Ralph Wilson Youth Club in Temple, Texas, and several other non-profit organizations in the Pikes Peak and Wet Mountain Valley areas of Colorado.
